Need for on-site Librarians for MOOC students

One of the many jobs I did to pay my way through Library School was to work as a tutor for athletes. I found tutoring to be very applicable to library training when you, as the tutor, see yourself as a research assistant who is learning along with your student.  The study cited below finds that students with in-person assistance do better in MOOC’s than those who don’t receive the same kind of service.  I think this says a lot to the continuing value of on-site Librarians and their research skills, even in the world of online classes.
